Jamie Heemin An, ALMFT
Associate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Jamie has experience working with high conflict couples, families, and individuals with a wide range of issues. Specialty includes working with immigrants and first generation individuals who have challenges with the culture inside and outside of their family. When you work together, will find ways to help you develop skills that you can use now to enjoy richer relationships, now and for the rest of your life.
Jamie has lived in Seoul, Germany, and the United States. Having lived in many cultures, she finds there are many ways to be. Culture can help define your identity, and so can family. Jamie invites you to explore the stories of your life and what's important to you. Working together, she will help you identify what behaviors are stopping you from experiencing rich relationships.
When we experience a lot of conflict, reaching out to get support and make change does not always seem possible. You're not alone. There are things you can learn about yourself and others that can change how you interact- and life can get better. By making sense of our lives, we can expand our choices for love and connection. Now is a good time to reach out.
Jamie speaks fluent Korean.

What's my mission?
My mission in our work together is to help people have a better understanding of themselves in order to express themselves to significant others and create a better understanding within relationships.
Why you chose the population you work with?
One of the most important factors that determine quality of life are the quality of relationship with yourself and significant others. Therefore, having a healthy relationship with the self and significant other is crucial. Sometimes with life circumstances and obstacles, it is easy to forget to focus on what is important, which is relationship. I am passionate in helping people learn how to be kind to not only themselves but also significant others to ultimately improve quality of life.
Why my degree?
I chose my degree, marriage and family therapy, because I wanted to specifically focus on how relationships and family impact an individual. Also to learn how to help people in need to create healthy relationships.
How do I hope to help people?
I hope to help people by providing a safe place to be vulnerable and simultaneously guiding them to trust themselves that they can create better relationships with themselves and others.
A tool or technique you're excited to share with people and why?
I primarily utilize the Gottman method for couples and family work. This method helps couples and families become profoundly aware of unhealthy communication patterns and provides a step-by-step approach on how to have constructive communication.
